Due to this rapid growth, M3 USA is hiring for a Senior Systems Administrator to lead the maintenance, monitoring, and improvement of the company's production infrastructure, including its servers, networks, operating systems, telephony systems, and applications.

While primarily focused on the maintenance and improvement of the production systems, the Senior System Administrator will also show leadership in supporting and improving internal use servers and networks, and assist IT support in resolving escalated employee or customer support requests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor production systems with a focus on delivering a high quality of service meeting clear service level objectives (in terms of availability, security, performance / latency, correctness, backup/recovery time, durability, MTFR, MTTR, etc.)
  • Receive alerts about abnormal system states and lead the troubleshooting and resolution of incidents with production systems 24/7
  • Lead the proactive analysis of resource usage and propose, plan, and execute projects to adjust resource capacity, monitoring systems, and deployed infrastructure to better meet business needs
  • Document and review production infrastructure-related procedures and processes, for both routine tasks and emergency cases (write and review runbooks)
  • As necessary go to data centers to assist with tasks relating to physically deployed hardware
  • Lead post-mortems of system incidents and report to management and staff about root causes and remediation plans

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical projects to improve internal IT services and related infrastructure
  • Document and review IT support procedures


  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years experience in a similar role
  • 3+ years of extensive, recent (current position, or within the past year) hands-on expertise with Windows Server and VMWare administration
  • At least 1 year of hands-on Linux system administration experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot difficult technical problems involving Windows Server, VMWare, datacenter hosted hardware, Cisco networking equipment
  • Knowledge of application level protocols (i.e. HTTP 1 and 2, HTTPS, DNS, SMTP) and all levels of the web application stack
  • Ability to write clean, well-structured scripts to automate routine infrastructure tasks, and to read and understand similar programs written in common programming languages
  • Knowledge and expertise with IaaS such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Knowledge and expertise with SaaS solutions deployed by M3 USA, (Salesforce, Jira, etc.) is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with containers (i.e. Docker), container orchestration (i.e. Kubernetes, Docker Swarm) a plus
  • Experience with infrastructure automation technologies such as Ansible/Chef/Puppet a plus
  • Experience building out monitoring using open source solutions such as Prometheus, ELK a plus
  • Passion for constant learning and improvement, and ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems with a mind to utilizing those technologies to improve service and/or efficiency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and detail-oriented worked
  • Ability to function well independently and as part of a small team
